about

Rosalie Sorrels was a folklorist, singer-songwriter, and storyteller from Boise, Idaho. Over the course of several decades, she traveled the country performing music and collecting songs, connecting her with a myriad of other artists, activists, and counterculture figures who range from Pete Seeger to Hunter S. Thompson. Recorded in 1967, If I Could be the Rain is a collection of original songs written by Sorrels and folk singer Utah Philips, with accompanying guitar by Mitch Greenhill. A collection of songs contemporary to the folk revival, this record presents a style that speaks both to tradition and the time in which it was recorded.
